Elite Runner Qualifications:

To be considered for Elite Status, runners must have met the applicable qualifying time within the past 2 years (from the beginning of registration, April 1st):

Having met the qualifying time does not automatically qualify athletes for elite status as spots are limited.
To Apply for Elite Status:
Please submit your request to marathon@sgcity.org by the end of June.
Attach a copy of a complete Running Resume for the past three years, minimum to the current date. For each race, state event, where the event was held, date of the event, finish time and overall or masters finish place. Include the following as well as any additional information that may help in the review process: Athlete's name, email address, mailing address, phone number, sex, age, date of birth, and what you anticipate your completion time will be at the 2024 St. George Marathon.
If you do not have qualifying times for marathon or half marathon distances and you are a first-time marathoner who has run at a high level in shorter distances, i.e. college cross country and believe your training and resume should qualify you for Elite consideration please submit your runner resume with a reference letter from your college or another coach. This may not guarantee a spot depending on the other applications that are received. You may be asked to submit a time trial for verification.

Notification of Decision:
Runners will be notified by email that the application has been either approved or disapproved. If approved, a Complimentary Entry Code will be e-mailed to the e-mail address shown on the initial application
Sub-Elite Qualifications: Runners who do not meet the Elite Qualifications can request to obtain Sub-Elite status and qualify to receive a Guaranteed Entry (runner pays the entry fee) by meeting the applicable qualifying time within the past 2 years (from the beginning of registration, April 1st). The qualifications for Sub-Elite status are as follows:
