Time Standard All runners must have reached the intersection of Snow Canyon Parkway and State Road 18 within 6 hours and 15 minutes of the start of the race (1:00 pm). The Utah Grand Slam is a unique event for the veteran or newly certifiable marathon maniac. The Grand Slam consists of participating in five of the six Utah marathons designated; Salt Lake City Marathon, Ogden Marathon, Park City Marathon, Deseret News Marathon, Top of Utah Marathon (Logan), and the St. George Marathon. To compete for the overall men's and women's trophies, one must complete the Ogden Marathon through the St. George Marathon. To simply earn the respect, admiration, and/or disbelief of one's family and friends, one must complete five of the six above mentioned marathons. The trophies, medals, plaques and coveted t-shirts will be awarded in a much deserved ceremonial fashion in St. George after all Slammers have completed the marathon. The St. George Marathon will have water, Gatorade and Clif Bars at the aid stations but don't head out for the race unprepared. You will receive a Fastpak of SHOT BLOKS from the Clif Bar folks in your goody bag. You may want bring them with you on the course.
Hydrating properly is absolutely essential to keeping you fluid throughout your many athletic endeavors; from trail to road to water. Proper hydration also inspires greater comfort and enjoyment along the way. There can be gain without the pain after all! Dehydration of even 2-3% can slow you down, and dehydration and sodium loss are also the number one cause of cramping, so you'll need to replace 16-24oz of fluid for every pound lost to help avoid this. Consuming consistent amounts of sodium every hour can help replace sodium losses in sweat. Simple investment - HUGE payoff!
SHOT BLOKS are best to consume15-30 minutes prior to activity, and then every 20-30 minutes during activity. Qualifying for Boston
St. George is one of the Top Ten Qualifiers for the Boston Marathon!
For the 2014 Boston Marathon, qualifying times must be run on or after September 22, 2012
The acceptance of official race entrants will be based on qualifying time, with the fastest qualifiers (in relation to their age and gender) being accepted first until the race is full
All qualifying times are subject to review and verification
Minimum age requirement for the Boston Marathon is 18 years of age on race day
All standards below are based on official submitted net time
All standards below are equal to the 2013 Boston Marathon qualifying standards
The qualifying times below are based upon each athlete's age on the date of the Boston Marathon in which they are participating
Registration for the 2014 Boston Marathon is scheduled to open in September.
BLIND/VISUALLY IMPAIRED DIVISION
The qualifying time is 5:00 hours for visually impaired athletes (men and women) classified T11, T12, and T13.
MOBILITY IMPAIRED PROGRAM
Mobility Impaired participants can apply on the first day of Boston Marathon registration, if qualified. Individuals with permanent disabilities that affect ambulation and who would not otherwise qualify for entry in other divisions are being granted the following extended qualifying times:
The qualifying time is 6:00 hours for individuals who, because of the nature of their disability, have difficulty ambulating
The qualifying time is 8:00 hours for individuals who, because of the nature of their disability, need mobility aids such as prosthetics, leg braces or crutches to ambulate
All other individuals with disabilities followed entry procedures and qualifying standards of either the B.A.A. or the established qualifying standard from the recognized disabled sports organization
The 2014 Boston Marathon will include a separate start for the top female competitors. The Elite Women's Start (EWS) will begin prior to the 10:00 a.m. and performances from this start wil be scored separately from women starting at 10:00 a.m.
Open and master division women who consider themselves eligible for prize money in the 2013 & 2014 Boston Marahton must declare themselves as a contestant for the EWS start
Race officials can assist in determining which start - EWS or 10:00 a.m. - is most appropriate
Prize money will be awarded to contestants in the EWS only
Women who chosse not the start in the EWS waive the right to compete for prize money

Mayors Walk will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014, 7:00 a.m. The walk is approximately 2.2 miles in length and had over 1,600 participants last year.
Ten-Year-Club - There are now over 1300 members in our 10-year runners club. A Ten-Year Club member is a runner who has participated in at least 10 St. George Marathons.
Twenty-Year-Runners - we will have 213 runners who have participated in the St. George Marathon at least 20 times.
Thirty-Year Runners - we have now inducted a total of 14 runners who have completed over 30 St George Marathons
Based on past races, we expect approximately 80% of the registered runners to finish the race - all 26 miles and 385 yards!
