The St. George Marathon is organized and conducted under USA Track & Field rules and regulations.
- The St. George Marathon reserves the right to remove
a runner from the course if, in our judgement, it is possible that serious or fatal injury could result from continued participation (please remember the 6-hour time limit). Please exercise wisdom in your participation.
- The USA Track and Field Association, the governing body for running in the United States, has passed the following
“Rules of Competition”
Article IV Rule #144 entitled Assistance to Athletes: “The following shall be considered assistance and therefore NOT allowed.
Section F)
the visible possession or use by athletes of video or audio cassette recorders or players, TV’s, CD or DVD players, radio transmitters or receivers, mobile phones or computers or any similar devices in the competition area.
The St George Marathon staff asks for your assistance in maintaining a safe environment for all runners. Please abide by this rule.
- ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL SUPPORT VEHICLES, BABY STROLLERS, AUTOS, BICYCLES, ROLLER BLADES/SKATES, MOTORCYCLES, ETC., WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE. Runners accepting aid from personal support may be disqualified. Private vehicles attempting to transport runners to the start will be stopped and turned around. | All numbers are preassigned according to anticipated finish time. In order to ensure a safe and orderly start, all runners must line up in designated areas according to runner number. Watch for signs and volunteers who will assist you. |
 |
| For viewing the race between the start and the City limits, the three areas are Veyo, Snow Canyon turnoff, and Snow Canyon Parkway/Skyline Drive. (See map). There are bleachers at the finish line and many places to watch from Mile 23 until the finish. |

 |
| The first eight places, male and female, will be determined by gun time (regular ). All other awards will be determined by using chip time. Gun time records elapsed time from the sound of the gun to the race finish line. Chip time records real time from starting line to finish line. The major advantage is that each runner is clocked on their actual time to run the distance, minus the time spent getting to the starting line. Those running to qualify for the Boston Marathon or Olympic Trials will use the chip time. will be done by Burns Computer . |
 |
| Due to heavy traffic and unsafe road conditions, The staff of the St Geogre Marathon and the Utah Highway Patrol strongly discourage runners from training on the U-18/marathon route. |
 |
| The St. George Marathon has a time standard — runners MUST be able to complete the race in six hours or less. Please keep in mind this standard when training, especially if this is your first marathon. Aid stations, road blocks, etc., will be removed after six hours. The course is closed to through traffic from 6:30 - 11:30 a.m. |
 |
